Linda, Chris and Christy (3-5 year olds)
We had another fun-filled Summer Program this year. The trips to the pool were especially refreshing during the very hot and dry summer.
Christy also had us exploring different creeks around town, including the Jordan River on campus where the kids collected crawdads and spent the afternoons creek stomping. We even went out to Linda’s place in Brown County one day to swim in the lake, kayak, and ride on a pony.
The kids loved having Harmony parent Mia Beach around for daily face painting, shadow puppets, and making paper mache pinatas for our end of the summer party. Sadly, we had to say good-bye our wonderful teacher assistants Mary and Patty as they moved to Georgia after working in the ECP for five years. On the bright side, we hired Samantha Sondgerath (who has also been with us for five years) as an afternoon assistant.
The new school year is off to a great start already. We’ve had no difficult drop-offs, and our new kids seem very comfortable in the classroom. We’re excited to welcome Zan, Quinn, Clem, Arthur, Claire, Greyson, Lana, Silas, Simone, and Koa to the ECP. We also have two new classroom pets — a turtle that the kids named “Rainbow Sword,” and a tarantula named “Toast.” We’ve been getting to know these fascinating creatures, and each other, as we explore the various stations in the classroom. We’ve also been getting used to daily family meetings, doing calendar activities, daily jobs, and singing songs like “Day-O.”
Our annual trip to McCormick’s Creek was a lot of fun, even though we had to leave a bit early due to a rainstorm. Thanks to all of the parents who were able to come along and help drive.
We’re looking forward to another exciting year in the ECP!
