3rd & 4th Grade Field Trips

March 19, 2012

In J&J‘s class we have been going on lots of field trips!!! Some of the exciting places we have headed to are Crane, Kroger, the Herald-Times, Brown County State Park, the Indianapolis Children‘s Museum, the IU Greenhouse, and even to see the mayor!!! (Some students got to be city council members for the afternoon!) All of this has been in an effort to learn more about our community.

Some students have focused on learning more about their family history. They put all the stuff they worked on (their family tree, fingerprint story, story about their family, diagrams of room, zoomed in picture of their eyes, and other little creations) together to show at their potluck. The potluck was amazing. They were excited to see so many people come. The next day they celebrated by spending most of the day at Cascades Park.

Other students have been learning about wildlife in the area. Sandy Belth, from the Monroe County Parks and Rec, has been working with them. She has brought in a number animal pelts and animal skulls. They have learned about foxes, squirrels, beavers, raccoons, bobcats, coyotes, deer, and more!!! This group of students has also been doing research for their future work in the Harmony garden.

There are many exciting things planned for our class!!!
